BIOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION OF DOCTOR ATTORNEY PARIS MICHELE FINNER-WILLIAMS

Dr. Paris M. Finner-Williams, a licensed psychologist and attorney, is the founder and chief executive officer of Detroit, Michigan-based Finner-Williams and Associates Psychological Services, created in 1979. She is an author of numerous publications and articles and often serves as a quoted relationship expert in popular magazines; such as Essence, Ebony and Jet. She is the co-author of “Marital Secrets: Dating, Lies, Communication and Sex,” “Single Wisdom” and “How To Develop A Church-Based Christian Counseling Ministry” along with her husband Robert D. Williams. As a popular guest on radio and television, she addresses male-female relationships and motivational issues; and has been seen on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) Praise The Lord program as a repeated interview guest of Bishop T.D. Jakes and a recurrent guest on the Christian Television Network with Pastor Glenn Plummber. Her psychological, counseling and legal services include these issues as well as family law and probate matters. She is a founder and the first chairperson of the Black African-American Christian Counselors Division of the American Association of Christian Counselors and a member of the American Psychotherapy Association Board of Directors.
Dr. Atty. Paris Michele Finner-Williams worked a combined twenty-three years for local, county, and state governments as a Mental Health Department administrator. Finner-Williams has an extensive history of program development and management in Wayne County and nation-wide, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Developed and managed the effective Job Seeking Skills Training Program for the State of Michigan, Michigan Rehabilitation Services to assist persons with emotional, mental and physical disabilities become gainfully employed.
- Administrated the Wayne County Community Mental Health Service programs for persons with Developmental Disabilities for 12-1/2 years.
- Developed and managed the Wayne County Probate Court Pre-Court Screening Program.
- Developed and managed the Wayne County Family Support Subsidy Payment Program for Children with Developmental Disabilities.
- Developed and managed the Wayne County Jail Mental Health Department.
Finner-Williams has provided consultation and training to public and private sector agencies and organizations in the areas of group, forensic psychology, rehabilitation, divorce law, dynamics, client assessment and mental health treatment. She is a member, Elder or officer of numerous professional organizations and has received the 2008 Minerva Education and Development Foundation Celebration of African American Women II- Women of Courage- Women of Change Award, Association of Black Psychologists, Inc. 2006 Distinguished Psychologist of the Year Award, and 2000- 2003 Service Awards, the 2007 National Council of Negro Women – Detroit Section’s “Phenomenal Women” Award, the 2004 American Business Women’s Association Business Associate Award, and other local and national recognition for her contributions and leadership in the mental health field.
